In the end the mantra simply wore my recalcitrant instinct down to the point where one day I just went out and bought a scruffy Mk7 Ford Transit panel van. I had no idea as to whether, or not, I could make a decent fist of converting it into a serviceable campervan, or what potential pitfalls might lie in my path.
Well, some six months on and the van is all but complete and I am happy with the result. It now remains to be seen how practical and resilient my design and build proves to be!
The reason for this post is not to gloat, but rather to encourage others who may harbour an urge to do the same but, so far, have shied away from taking the plunge to just go ahead and do it. If I can do it, anyone can do it: male or female, young or old.
I have no particular skills relevant to such a task, or similar experience to draw on. I’m not even a keen DIY-er. I have, however, always enjoyed opportunities to actually ‘make’ things and I guess I am fairly practical.
Ultimately, it really comes down to ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’. In other words – Just do it…..
…. you know you want to!
